Sphere cabinet by Robert van den Herik

The wardrobe, dresser or storage cabinet (do not know exactly how to classify it) that appears on these lines caught my attention powerfully for its originality, its peculiar shape and appearance, which despite being the most cutting-edge also has a slight charming retro-inspired furniture that appeared in the movies, or sci-fi comics of the 60 and 70. Indeed, it could well be a time capsule to travel to the past or the futur.

However, it is actually a piece of furniture created by designer Robert van den Herik and responds to simple name Sphere Cupboard.

Its creator tried to design a ride in the usual style of conventional cabinets and sideboards. So away radically from the traditional straight lines forming parallelepipeds square or rectangular, the designer literally broke the concept to produce this magnificent piece. The intent of the furniture is bringing a new dimension to the rooms, incorporating spherical shapes throughout the furniture, is an excellent idea, though of course only suitable for large rooms because unlike conventional cupboards and sideboards, Sphere can not adapt to the wall or to the corners.

The body of the cabinet, ie the sphere, is made of iron. This makes it a wardrobe Sphere extremely strong and durable. They draw attention to the delicate legs, also with a whimsical metal and shape that resembles a twisted wire on a larger scale. These legs give lightness to an otherwise sound design and heavy. The tables that form the shelf and base are wood furniture, warm and soft material that creates an interesting contrast with the coldness of the iron with which to make this cabinet. Sphere measurements are 70 cm high x 70 cm wide x 70 cm deep.
