We are in full holiday fallera days actual failures (though each year the mess starts earlier) and understandably, the city is the place full of people… guiris basking in the Sun on a terracita while taking a lovely, tourists Queuing in countless posts where sell you fritanga shaped “bunyols”, all with the “blanket to the coll i the cabaset”, falleras hartas carry the peineta and the ensaimadas planted in the head, musicians with liters of alcohol in vein playing “Paquito the Chocolatier”, all monuments shot to flashes of all kinds of cameras, rivers and rivers of people make grinding (for my) even the idea of stepping on the streets of Valencia. But everything has an end, and in a couple of days the purifying fire consumes “nosecuantos” monuments “cream” night (and everything returns to normal, sii!)

I don’t know if designer Maarten Baas has visited failures, but in light of their pirómana vein today show, sure I would be happy to come to Valencia next day 19 to burn any failure.

What you see here are from the collection Smoke Maarten Baas burned in 2002 for the Dutch company Moooi Chair and seat. And the burn is literalemente took both baroque furniture and set on to create a new design across the uncontrolled decomposition that produces fire. For the Chair and the Chair can be used as such, they receive a finish with resin epoxy and in this case, they wrapped in black leather.

In 2004 the Moss Gallery you gave a new joy Maarten Baas to take her collection “Where There’s Smoke…” where again is dedicated to setting fire to several pieces, but this time to design classics ranging from saddle Hill House of Mackintosh, Chair Gaudi Calvet, chairs Zig Zag and Red and Blue of Rietveld, until Sottsass Carlton rack and the Campana brothers Favela Chair

Who will be next, burn the Panton Chair and sell pegote plastic forming in the ground?
