IKEA. What about IKEA? More than a company, rather than a brand of furniture, more than a style … and IKEA is definitely a concept, almost a sense of life. And nothing better to define it in a nutshell that the name of the exhibition to be displayed at the Central Abattoir Design in Madrid until the next day May 29: IKEA, democratic design. Almost nothing.
On the occasion of the celebration of 15 anniversary of the establishment of the Swedish giant in Spain, IKEA wanted to pay tribute to all customers who have trusted the brand. And, after fifteen years insisting on the Spanish market, there are few households that do not have any order made in IKEA.
Visitors can tour and watch the shows main icons of the Swedish brand, as the chair Pang, Mammut seats for children, or Hella Jongerius vases designed in 2006. But also a loft of 90 m2, fully equipped, a room dedicated to textiles and a parallel exhibition called “IKEA cubed”, where more than 200 students from 10 design schools and universities in Madrid have created their unique spaces – 2 cubes , 40 x 2.40 ª furnished exclusively with IKEA products.
The exhibition aims to explain the key behind this concept has convinced millions of people around the world: that the design should be affordable for most households. His idea, that the contemporary furniture should not be associated with exclusivity, is summarized in the idea of ??”democratic design: good shape, buna function, quality for day to day, minimum environmental impact, and certainly the key a low price.
And these are the five key insights: a price, the first IKEA in a product design, quality and functionality designed for day to day based intelligent transport plane or stacking package, products are always designed with minimal impact environmental and a client who works in transport and assemble furniture to reduce the price further.
