The name of the Chair, Bocca, seems to refer to the ‘word’ that this curious design seat. I don’t know if that was the reason for its creator to baptize his work, but either way from what I have no doubt is that is 100% original furniture. Designed by the Creator israeli Tal Gur for the furniture company and decorating Gaga & Design, the Chair is made of steel tube and fabric of different colors.
It is a cabinet very innovative, since it has been shown for the first time in the 2013 IMM in Cologne. In addition to the Chair, the collection is completed with other elements such as stools high and low, chairs of different designs…
The mixture between the warm interwoven, done in colors as the intense orange and the range of greys (tones that are mixed in some parts), and the cold metal of the structure gives as a result a highly effective design, that is also comfortable. Bocca Chair, playing with the combination of materials and visual weight, has been described by experts as “unique design” and “balanced, functional and aesthetically appealing” thus adding to the most interesting creations of the 21st century.
It brings me memories of those deck chairs from the 1960s and 70s, with its structure of tube and its coiled or woven plastic seats… This makes that chair Bocca and the rest of the collection cause me a nostalgic retro feeling. Another advantage of the design, no doubt. Before taking its present form, Bocca Chair went through a process of creation that resulted in various prototypes, as appearing on these lines (shown in Experimentadesign 2009) or even a curious version made with plywood Board.
