Alternative, a Minimalist Furniture by Joan Lao for Mobilfresno
Presented last January at the Maison & Objet in Paris, Alternative new minimalist furniture collection, created by Joan Lao and produced by Mobilfresno was presented last week in Barcelona with a much larger catalog than that seen in the French capital.
Alternative known for its excellent design aesthetics itself, neutral and conceptual, functional beauty looking for and inspired by the philosophy Wabi-Sabi: the beauty of things imperfect, mutable and incomplete, of things humble and unconventional.
To carry out the collection is used weathered oak featuring the original appearance of the grooves of the wood as it ages. The tones of the finish is achieved with different dyes to water, without using solvents, leaving the grain of the wood visible. Also offers eight colors of laccase, if you prefer a smoother finish, or you can opt for silver or gold polychrome.
The wood is combined with natural materials like stone (four types), which is incorporated into the envelopes of the tables as an alternative to wood. Another material with which it has worked is iron, which is used in structures or envelopes. The glass is also present in parts of the collection as an alternative to wooden doors, for greater transparency and lightness.
Alternative expressed tones of nature, embodies the natural aging of wood and other materials, always working with sustainable production respects the environment and products that are not harmful as the water completely organic finishes.
The first line of this new collection for home and contract called Vital and consists of tables, chairs, sofas, chairs, cabinets, bookcases, lamps … It is a modular program characterized by minimalism, which allows to create from a side table to a library thanks to its composition: boxes of different sizes that can be grouped getting unique items. The compositions are topped with a board of 11 mm and intermediate holes are constructed with iron boxes.
There is also an outdoor line performed in European oak wood treated to resist weather and stop using non-controlled timber.
